Daily Devotions That Lead The Sheep To The Shepherd

March 1, 2021

1 Timothy 1:5-7 5 Now the goal of our instruction is love from a pure heart, a good conscience, and a sincere faith. 6 Some have deviated from these and turned aside to fruitless discussion. 7 They want to be teachers of the law, although they don't understand what they are saying or what they are insisting on.

When I was in middle school, I went to Liberty Point Baptist Church in Cadiz, KY. Bro. Norman Cotton was the youth minister there. I can only recall the title of one of the bible studies we did in all the years I attended his class. I can recall, however memory after memory in which he proved his love for us. I can remember the walk we took when I first felt God calling me into the ministry. I remember playing football at his house, listening to music through my truck speakers until the battery died. I think back to the mission trips we went on and the summer camps we attended. Thinking back to those days always brings much laughter and a few tears to my eyes. His words, no doubt, influenced my young mind, but who he was and how he loved, changed my life!

Why do you do what you do? Paul’s desire was to preach, teach, exhort and even rebuke because of His love for God, his brothers and sisters in Christ, and the lost. Living the Christian life should be the response to a heart that is overflowing with the Love of Christ! So, I ask again; Why do you do what you do?

Father, I pray that you help me to do everything that I do out of the overflow of the Love that you have shown to me. Holy Spirit I pray that you guide my steps as I live and love through your power. Jesus thank you for living the life I could not live, dying the death I earned, and giving me the life, I do not deserve. Help me, today, to live, love, and serve like you! In the powerful name of Jesus, I Pray. Amen
